A Good Woman / Ambassador of Humanity Award // THURSDAY, FEB 24, 2005
News Liz told me the great news: The official site for 'A Good Woman' is online - featuring pictures and the trailer! I've uploaded the stills to the gallery.

Belowen has uploaded some pictures of Scarlett at an event by Steven Spielberg's Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation. Former US-president Bill Clinton received a 'Ambassador of Humanity Award' last Thursday. Tom Cruise served as master of ceremonies and John Travolta, Sharon Stone and Scarlett Johansson were in attendance.

Scarlett: First-Time Oscar Voter // WEDNESDAY, FEB 23, 2005
News "It's really nice to be able to feel like you have some part of who is recognized," said Johansson, 20, one of the youngest voters. "Maybe I should've done a bet with somebody to see if my picks win." Watching 35 movies plus 10 short subjects and 10 documentaries and listening to five CDs of nominated songs in barely three weeks would be nirvana to most film fans. Some Academy members, including Johansson, simply don't have the time to review all 24 categories, so they abstain from voting in contests they haven't seen. "You want to be able to really give a fair judgment," said the busy actress. Bird will be in the Kodak Theatre audience on Oscar night and Johansson will be a presenter. David and Robinson, meanwhile, will have to watch the fruits of their labors on TV because there's not enough room at the Kodak for every academy member.

Tsunami Relief Efforts // THURSDAY, FEB 17, 2005
News The benefit concert Scarlett attended last Friday was presented by the will.i.am music group. The same group lanced an ebay auction the next day, last Saturday. Thanks Kelly for informing me about this. It is still online and there aren’t yet any bids – but the starting bid is high: $1,000.00. This is what the auction is for:

will.i.am music group presents: Tsunami Benefit Peapod Jam EBAY auction
You are bidding on an autographed “Squadron Jacket” signed by the cast of Michael Bay’s new film “The Island,” currently still in production.
This one of a kind jacket was used in the movie and was generously donated to help UNICEF aid in the relief efforts in South Asia.
You are bidding on a great cause and on a one of a kind keepsake signed by: Scarlett Johansson, Ewan McGregor, Djimon Honsou and Sean Bean.
100% of your money will benefit the US Fund for UNICEF & the tsunami relief efforts.

Remember Scarlett at the Jay Leno Show on January 11? She signed a Harley Davidson motorbike. Jay Leno has now taken out a full-page ad in movie industry trade magazine DAILY VARIETY thanking the 64 stars who signed his bike. He auctioned the bike off on Internet auction website eBay to raise funds for the American Red Cross’ tsunami relief effort. The bike sold for a staggering $800,100 – 47 times the buying price!

A View From the Bridge // WEDNESDAY, FEB 16, 2005
News Variety reported today that Scarlett will star in 'A View From the Bridge' a big-screen adaptation of the Arthur Miller (he died last week at the age of 89) play. Barry Levinson is to direct, Anthony LaPaglia to star as the tale's flawed hero, Brooklyn longshoreman Eddie Carbone, Frances McDormand as his wife and Scarlett Johansson as Catherine, the niece who Eddie becomes dangerously drawn to. The project is a long-term labour of love for LaPaglia, who won a Tony for the role on the Broadway stage and has been lobbying to have the film made. He recently won permission from Miller to adapt the play and was instrumental in appointing Andrew Bovell as its screenwriter.

A View From the Bridge is dramatic study of the tensions at work within New York's working-class Italian community and is generally regarded as one of Miller's three key plays, alongside Death of a Salesman and The Crucible. This will be Scarlett's second collaboration with Frances McDormand after 'The Man Who Wasn't There'.

Gallery Update // WEDNESDAY, FEB 16, 2005
News I'm sorry I haven't updated the last few days even though there are news/updates.

As I thought Scarlett didn't go to the Berlin Film Festival for the screening of her movie 'In Good Company' on Sunday. But she was busy the days before: On Friday she attended a Tsunami Benefit Concert. Have a look at the pictures.

On Saturday she hosted, as announced, the Scientific and Technical Awards (part of the Academy Awards that'll be given out later this month). A tidbid from the report:
So how unlike the main Academy Awards was it? "It's not the pressure of the actual Oscars," said actress Scarlett Johansson, who hosted the ceremony. "It's sort of like being at a black-tie event with the crew of your film." Johansson had the night's toughest job -- and perhaps one of the tougher gigs in all of Hollywood -- as she waded through recitation of the honored moviemaking machinery. She took deep breaths before fearlessly rattling off such tongue-twisters as Satellight-X HMI Softlight, DNF-001 multiband digital audio noise suppressor and Tyler Gyroplatform boat mount. Whew! "I have no idea what that means," she said as the crowd laughed. "The words are coming out of my mouth, but I'm not processing them." After Johansson got through a particularly detailed explanation of motion capture technology (don't ask) someone shouted, "Excellent!" Johansson relied heavily on a teleprompter, yet still stumbled at times. At one point, she tossed up her hands and said, "Lost me there again." But clearly, Johansson had a sense of humor about her tricky task. "We're here to discuss the world of digital compositing, and Table 23, I'm only going through this once!" she said. Johansson had nearly navigated the technological minefield when a real doozy popped up -- Takuo Miyagishima. He won the Gordon E. Sawyer special Oscar for his career contributions to the movie industry. She correctly pronounced his name once and, sounding relieved, told the crowd he answers to "Tak."

Read more about this event in the forum. And of course there's pictures of Scarlett wearing a suit: here.

Other gallery updates: Steen Sundland photo shoot, Venice Jury at work, Nintendo Launch event, more Golden Globes pics, Angeleno Magazine Scans, a very young Scarlett and Eight Legged Freaks Press Conference.

News News for Scarlett's movies:

Lion's Gate lists September 16 as release date for 'A Good Woman in the US.

These are the dates and times: Sunday Feb 13, 2005 - 16.00 Press Screening, 17.55 Photo Call, 18.10 Press Conference, 22:30 Official Screening. No indication whether Scarlett will be attending.
